Dr. Kamaira Philips received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry, graduating with honors. Dr. Philips has experience in all areas of general dentistry, including fillings, crowns/bridges, root canals, periodontal treatment, pediatrics, geriatrics and special care, partial and complete dentures, and dental surgery.
In addition to being a general dentist, she is a trained singer and certified hypnotist. She enjoys using her skills to help patients feel comfortable and relaxed in the dental chair. She has received several awards recognizing her for her excellence in clinical patient care, research and community service.
Dr. Philips received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Vocal Performance (Classical/Opera Singing). She also holds a Masters of Physiology degree from North Carolina State University, and is working on her second Master's degree in Public Health/Health Leadership at East Carolina University.
Dr. Philips has extensive experience in clinical and translational research. She has authored eleven peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals, including a first-author publication in the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) and was a contributing author on the 2022 Surgeon General’s Report on Oral Health in America.
She is a member of American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society and American Association of Public Health Dentistry.
